Explore our technology and how it empowers your purification process

For chemists, CPC offers a highly selective and truly scalable purification solution. The CPC is seamlessly adaptable from early research and development through to full-scale industrial production. It maintains high resolution and efficiency at every stage, without introducing delays, compromising purity, or driving significantly growing up costs. It’s a purification technology that grows with your process, and supporting your science at every step.

About Centrifugal Partition Chromatography (CPC):
How CPC works and why it matters in purification.

Centrifugal Partition Chromatography (CPC) is a liquid–liquid chromatography technique that dispenses with solid stationary phases, using immiscible liquids instead. The stationary phase is held in place by centrifugal force while the mobile phase carries compounds through the rotor’s interconnected cell chambers. Separation is based on each molecule’s partition coefficient, offering high resolution without issues like irreversible adsorption or silica degradation.

No Solid Phase, No Silica

Eliminate issues like irreversible adsorption, peak tailing, or column fouling. No silica means more reproducible results.

No Column Degradation

Without a silica-based stationary phase, there’s no risk of compaction, degradation, or performance loss, even under challenging conditions (like pH modification) for improved selectivity or purity.

Wide Solvent Compatibility

Choose from hundreds of biphasic, multi-component solvent system combinations to fine-tune selectivity and maximize purity.

High Recovery Rates

Gentle separation without heat or pressure preserves sensitive molecules and maximizes yield.

Excellent Loadability

CPC’s high stationary phase retention and adjustable mobile-to-stationary phase ratio support large injection volumes while maintaining separation performance.

Green Chemistry Ready

Lower solvent consumption, option for greener solvent systems, and high reusability make CPC a more sustainable choice.

Scalable Without Redesigning

Keep your method and scale your volume, from mg to hundreds of kg, without changing purification method and phases or column formats.

Multiple Dual-Mode CPC:
Effective Continuous Processing in Chromatography

Continuous processing has also been adopted in liquid-liquid chromatography, improving productivity and enhancing its industrial applicability while reducing buffer, solvent, and raw material consumption within a smaller footprint. By using one or two CPC units in multiple dual-mode (MDM), continuous operation is possible, enabling higher throughput, increased productivity, improved solvent utilization, and significantly more effective scale-up.

Feasibility & Method Evaluation:
How a feasibility study works, Kd measurements, challenges.

Our process starts with solvent system screening, using your crude sample to identify biphasic solvent systems in which all components are fully soluble. Once solubility is confirmed, we measure partition coefficients (Kd) and assess compound distribution between phases. The result is a data-driven assessment, “can CPC work for your CoI, and how well?”, giving you method viability before moving forward. CPC excels at resolving isomers, and other closely related compounds that often co-elute in HPLC. We are ready for challenges!
